APS Online High School Academic Approach

The biggest misunderstanding in online education is that people believe online education is easier than attending a traditional school.  Those of you who have been with us know it isn’t easier or less time; it is simply a different model of learning.  Students still need to put in an hour of work, 5 days a week, for each course assigned.  This practice will ensure your progress and achievement of credits.

Our aim at APS Online is to help students stay on track and on time with graduation requirements.  Students who are in grades 9-12 will be assigned a traditional school schedule for that grade level.

For students who are credit deficient, we will assign a traditional schedule to ensure you don’t fall further behind, and also offer self-paced Credit Recovery classes in addition to your standard course work that can be accessed 24/7, including holidays and weekends. Our doors to learning never close.  Students who are accelerating and advancing their diploma date will be assigned a standard schedule and additional self-paced classes to accommodate an advanced learning plan.

For non-traditional seniors who did not graduate on time and need additional credits to earn a diploma, we will design a custom, self-paced schedule to fill the gaps in your transcript and allow you to earn your diploma.  The more time and effort you spend in your classes, the quicker you will progress toward success. You are required to spend at least 35 hours a week working on these classes and you are required to physically attend our classroom session in person at least 2 times a week (physical attendance can vary) for 6 hours each time. Aurora Public Schools Online Model
